How does benzoyl peroxide really not fade a tan?

If you have a tan and you apply benzoyl peroxide AFTER at nighttime lets say, it is said that it will not fade your tan.

I haven't done much research, but I'm just surprised how this is true. It can lighten facial hair, bleach fabric etc, yet it does not lighten the skin? Especially if you have a tan and your skin is unnaturally darker.

Is it true? Any thoughts on this? How does benzoyl peroxide really not fade a tan?
This is true, it will not fade your tan. Facial hair is more delicate hence it will react almost instantly to any dies and in this case, benzoyl peroxide. In order to get a tan you need days or weeks to see a nice color. Unless you use benzoyl 3 times a day everyday, it will not fade away your tan.
