Lavender chamomille cucumber and aloe all aid in redness reduction use any of these with a cotton ball and apply to face 2 times a day

Try using ST IVES APRICOT SCRUB for oily, acne prone skin,blackheads/blemishes this is a great deep cleaning exfoliator that gets down under the skin it will definetley help prevent future breakouts great for pores and blackheads ive had major problems with acne for almost 7 years and i have tried everything (no exaggeration) and st ives has by far worked the best for me and its only $3 cant beat that my skin has never behaved so well!!! lol Exfoliation is great for removing dead skin cells which will remove red marks and acne scars

I use lemon juice with a cotton ball once daily great for acne acne scars oily skin and blackheads

Smear Vitamin E Oil Caplets on the scarred area.

Smear some tea tree oil on the scar to help it heal faster.

Put 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil on a cotton ball and apply on scar.

Blanch green tea, soak a cotton ball and apply on the scar to help it heal.

Mix Aloe Vera and vitamin E gel caplets and apply to the scar.

Rub honey on the scar as often as you can to make it heal.

Smear any oil on the scar and massage to help it heal.

Rub some olive oil on scars 2-3 times a day.

For acne scars: Mix 1 tablespoon of sour cream ( 0% fat for oily face), 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 1 tablespoon of grind oatmeal and 3-4 drops of lemon juice. Apply on face, leave for 10 minutes and wash off.

Any form of vitamin a such as gel capsules or retina aWhat does benzoyl peroxide do to those marks left from acne??
Quick fix head to a tanning bed, it will help with the marks and helps with clearing of your skin, also take vitiamin B , Zinc and E, drink plenty of fluids. Good luck.
dries up skin and makes it all crusty and peely

try the dove exfoliator you can buy it at wal mart for like $9 or try the olay creams they are pretty good but kinda pricey
Benzoyl peroxide will help help the new acne dry out. It will do nothing for the scars. I notice benzoyl peroxide just makes the skin dry out.

What would max strength benzoyl peroxide acne cream do to acne scabs??

Well i have a bunch of acne scabs on my forehead...they arent like from blood or cuts, just extremely dry skin from where i popped some zits...but i also have acne around them so i covered my entire forehead with benzoyl peroxide cream...would that help or make the scabs worse?? i need to get rid of this crap by sunday...What would max strength benzoyl peroxide acne cream do to acne scabs??
Not sure, The citric acid in lemon has properties that can kill harmful bacteria present in acne. A paste of orange peels also cleanses the skin and fights harmful bacteria.Log on to http://tipsfromruby-acne.blogspot.com/ for a few home made tips to heal acneWhat would max strength benzoyl peroxide acne cream do to acne scabs??
It dries the zits and contributes to scabbing. The skin underneath has to heal before the scabs fall off.

?Is there a more gentle alternative to Benzoyl Peroxide?
I like the products from Bee-Luscious Cosmetics. They have some acne treatments that contain sulfur instead of benzoyle peroxide (they also have products with it too). They also have some with salicylic acid and special cleaners and moisturizers for acne prone skin. I would email them (I did) and tell them what you have tried and they will send you some sample to try and see what works for you. Just do a Yahoo search for Bee-Luscious Cosmetics or just go to beeroyalproducts.com. I hope this helps you.Is there a more gentle alternative to Benzoyl Peroxide?
Benzoyl Peroxide has different strengths. Much of what you buy in topical acne cream is 10%. Some soap is 10% or 5%. I use a loreal acne system (similar to proactiv) which uses a 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream.

Check the label to see the % strength. Use a lower percentage (maybe one for sensitive skin) and use it less often if drying occurs.

You can also use salicylic acid at a 2% concentration which is found in most acne washes and in Sea Breeze and other cleansers.
I use Burt's Bees Blemish Stick. It doesn't dry my skin out, it's all natural, and it contains the tea tree oil other people have recommended - as well as several other antibacterial ingredients to help kill the bacteria that makes the blemish worse. (and it smells good).

Be warned that it will sting if you have broken skin because it contains some alcohol.
well there are benzoyl peroxide skin lotions if the liquid form is drying out your skin. it has about the same effect but doesnt make your skin dry out or sting, only tingles slightly.
Yes there is';An Product that would be useful

called Proactiv it cleans out dirt %26amp; heals pimples real well

    vs Clearsil Medicated Pads

    try http://www.proactiv.com

    or visit http://clearsil.medicatedpads.com
try the edible pills. Instead of topical treatments that may damage skin or is good for skin, but not effective for acne, the edible pills will basically prevent acne causing germs from forming in the first place, so instead of treating pimples and acne, you are preventing them.
Salicylic acid is the primary commercial alternative for acne treatments, but it's function is a little different. Both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide increase the rate of exfoliation (which prevents pores from clogging up and helps reduce bacteria count). This is also how aspirin-based acne home remedies work; aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid.

However, Benzoyl Peroxide is also an antibacterial. Tea tree oil, which has also been recommended and is found in some skin care products is also very effective against bacteria. While pure tea tree oil can be purchased, most indications for the skin suggest dilution. Facial cleansers, toners, and spot treatments with tea tree oil are available from The Body Shop, brands like Dr. Bronner's and Burt's Bees available at natural food stores, and lots of other places.

The first time I used Proactiv Solution, which contains Benzoyl Peroxide, it made my face red, puffy, and itchy for days. This diminished with continued use and it was moderately effective against my acne, but I also felt it was too harsh. I now use a gentle cleanser that contains salicylic acid (Philosophy ';Purity';) or Cetaphil mixed with a little baking soda (a mechanical exfoliant) and when I get blemishes I spot treat them with Dr. Burts Blemish Stick (which contains tea tree oil). I also take cod liver oil to make sure I'm getting enough vitamin D, and if you find that your skin improves when you spend time in the sun that may help you as well, but don't take more than the daily recommended allowance.
    some topic anibiotics are great!
tea tree oil works almost the same way as benzoyl peroxide. its not as harsh and its completely natural too.
Benzoyl Peroxide (BP) is actually not harsh if used the right way. A lot of the over the counter acne medicines use 10% BP, which is not good because it causes excessive drying. BP in large amounts but in less concentration has helped me tremendously. I've been using a product called clear skin regimen. It has 2.5% BP. You can check it out at www.clearskinregimen.com I use the BP once a day and facial moisturizer every few days if it seems it gets a lil dry. I've tried 50 different kinds of acne medicines but this is the only one that has cleared it up. Hope it works for you.
    2% Salicyclic Acid
Shea Butter is a great and wonderful healthy non-irritating product. Mixed with Lavender oil will do wonders for blemishes. However you must avoid all chocolates and acidic caffeine drinks. Water (8 glasses per day) is a must. Work from the inside out, that is the solution.
I normally don't recommend pharmaceuticals because of their harmful side effects, however salycilic acid is a much better alternative to the very harsh Benzyl Peroxide.

A much better alternative in my opinion are Aveda Skin and Hair Care Products.

Aveda was founded by a French herbal bio-chemist and they use nothing but pure botanical extracts and derivatives to make their fine line of skin and hair care products.

I've been using their stuff for years and my acne cleared up in no time flat. It's non-comedogenic, they would never think of using ingredients like mineral oil (which suffocates and irritates your skin, and causes acne), Aveda products are PH balanced, fragrance free or naturally fragranced with botanics.
i heard sulfur works well. it's in some cleansers and ointments, you just have to look for it on the label
Yes.Take life easy and grow old gracefully and admire your grey hair
Benzoin be a gentle natural not same as Bezoyl !
A makeup artist told my daughter to use baking soda as a scrub every other day and on the opposite days to rinse face with juice from a lemon or lime...which ever one is one sale at the time. The juice helps bring zit to surface and baking soda help exfolitate your skin and dry up the zit. Be sure to use a oil free moisturizer too. The baking soda is a good scrub for the entire body about once a week...makes you skin really soft.
I have heard of a thing called Proactiv that some people have used and one of its selling points is that it isn't harsh like benzoyl peroxide.
    Salicylic Acid works for me

try a cleanser with it and your skin will approve
    Darkness?
    soap?
Tea Tree Oil. It's the best natural acne medicine!
Go to a dermatologist and get some prescription medicine. Benzoyl Peroxide really does not work very well.

PS acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) is also a good facial mask dissolved in a little warm water but the best is a doctor's prescription.
salicylic acid. Clean and Clear has it.
No, if you are talking about the 5% non-prescription stregth. (It comes in 10% and 20% but you require a prescription for it). Salicylic Acid is less irritating, but it's not as good as Benzoyl Peroxide. However, you can increase your tolerance to it, and make it less irritating by following these steps. One the first day you use Benzoyl Peroxide, apply it to your face half an hour before bedtime, then take it off before you go to bed. Each couple of days increase the duration you leave it on by half an hour. (i.e then leave it on for an hour, then an hour and half, then two hours) then take it off again before you go to bed. When you've reached four hours, you should be okay leaving it on your whole face the whole night with less irritation,

Another tip, always wear sunscreen, because benzoyl peroxide makes your skin more sensitive to the sun, resulting in a quicker burn, thus it will irritate your skin more. That's also why you want to put it on at night, versus the day where you have contact with the sun.
I like to use salicylic acid with a bit of a skin softener to make sure the solution doesn't dry out my skin. what you should do is use either the Benzoyl Peroxide or the salicylic acid at night when you sleep so that it could really repair your skin and kill the breakouts. In the morning, stick with lotions that have Vitamin E and sunscreen, because most of your breakouts come from the sun and the environment. Practice washing your face with a gentle cleanser 2-3 times a day.
Overnight, a zinc ointment like Sudocreme is really effective, and gentle. I also find that spot dots are great. They are plastic sticky-backed circles you apply, (you buy 20, ten to a strip) and they stop you touching the blemishes %26amp; adding more damage to the area, and seem to heal up the worst spots overnight.

Tea-tree oil - OK for a rinse before applying other treatments. One other thing a neighbour uses is Vitamin E capsules. She snips them at one end and gently rubs them into her skin. Her skin looks great to me. I guess we all find what works for us.
Acne is a skin condition that causes spots. Most people affected by acne are aged between 12 and 25.1 However, men and women in their 30s and 40s can also suffer. There are many treatments available to help deal with the condition

    Topical treatments

There are several topical treatments you may be prescribed including those listed below:

azelaic acid (Skinoren) is an alternative to benzoyl peroxide and may not make your skin as sore as benzoyl peroxide7

topical retinoids (eg Adapalene) are medicines based on vitamin A, which are rubbed into the skin once or twice a day.7 They work by encouraging the outer layer of skin to flake off

a topical antibiotic lotion applied to the skin can be used to control the P. acnes bacteria (eg Dalacin T). Treatment needs to continue for at least six months. Preparations that combine an antibiotic with other acne medication are available (eg Benzamycin which combines an antibiotic with benzoyl peroxide)7

What is a good benzoyl peroxide daily face wash?

i know of proactive, please give me some ideas of what else is good that is out there there are so many different brandsWhat is a good benzoyl peroxide daily face wash?
my teenage son has tried virtually every single one on the market - his skin is currently completely blemish-free (and he gets it bad, if he doesn't use something)....he found that using Oxy Maximum Face Wash (10% benzoyl peroxide) is *very* effective, and has no odor/scent. however, it's also very *drying*. -

therefore, he switches every other day between that and Neutrogena Men Skin Clearing Face Wash, which contains a milder active ingredient: Salicylic Acid 1.5% (sounds harsh, but it's not! - also, it smells great!).What is a good benzoyl peroxide daily face wash?
Neutrogena has a good face wash that has salacylic acid in it. This will not bleach your dark clothing.

Try www.acne.org this guy has a few products that are great as well.
    Mirad.

What do I apply first: my moisturizer or the benzoyl peroxide?

    BP then moisturizer,

or moisturizer then BP.What do I apply first: my moisturizer or the benzoyl peroxide?
bp first then the moisturizer. you want the medicine to penitrate first and then apply the moisterizer to keep your skin soft :D

Can benzoyl peroxide cause cancer, premature aging, and other skin diseases by itself?

Let's hope not, cause then I'm screwed!

If i switch from a benzoyl peroxide facewash to one with salactic acid will i break out?

will the chemicals interfere? does it matter?

thanks in advanceIf i switch from a benzoyl peroxide facewash to one with salactic acid will i break out?
Not necessarily. Benzoyl Peroxide works best for drying up active pimples, whereas, salicylic acid is a good exfoliant for the dead skin cell layer that might have caused the pimple in the first place, plus salicylic acid helps draw blackheads out of the pores.

My suggestion is, use the salicylic acid wash for every day use, but if you have active breakouts use the benzoyl peroxide wash. However, if you overuse BP, your skin can develop a resistance to it over time and quit working, so use it on an as-needed basis. If i switch from a benzoyl peroxide facewash to one with salactic acid will i break out?
just don't use them together and you'll be fine!
well im perosnally allergic to benzoyl peroxide but it is much harsher and dries the skin out more the salycic acid. it shouldnt cause you to break out thiough. have fun!
    no they both work
u r already brokin out now da cant u tell on ur avatar and ur real self everybody noes dat daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ! ! ! !

Can i use hydroquinone and benzoyl peroxide (in the form of tea tree oil) at the same time?

I accidentally burned one of my pimples and I want to use the hydroquinone to lighten the mark and I want to use the tea tree oil to continue removing pimples and blemishes. Can i use hydroquinone and benzoyl peroxide (in the form of tea tree oil) at the same time?
I wouldn't recommend using tea tree oil and the hydroquinone on the SAME spot. I have tea tree oil and it can be pretty hot itself and then to add a bleaching agent to it could cause inflammation. If you must still use the tea tree oil and hydroquinone, don't use them both on the same place.

Try ';Black Soap'; if you want to fight pimples and blemishes. The tea tree oil just dried out my skin and made it worse. We keep tea tree oil around for disinfection and insect bites though.

My skin is looking better than it has in MANY years since I started using Black Soap and hydroquinone (have to fight those dark spots). After wearing makeup, I wash my face with lattered hands and rinse, then use a little facial brush with the Black Soap. I'm seeing great results!!

Like my skin has been burn dark black?? whats up with that?

How can I make it fade!!!!! Please?I used benzoyl peroxide on my face and it leave almost a burnt mark?
You, like me have sensitive skin. Stop using the Benzoyl Peroxide please...

Buy a pot of Palmer's Coco Butter and rub it on your burn mark everyday. I have a burn mark too, i am using Coco Butter and it's helping alot :)I used benzoyl peroxide on my face and it leave almost a burnt mark?
Stop using it! You obviously have sensetive skin, let the burn mark heal or see a doctor if it dont until then stay away from the benzynol peroxide its a harsh chemical and it obviously dont agree with you, if you do plan to continue using it use less.

Is there benzoyl peroxide in Sensodyne Brilliant Whitening Toothpaste?

I am using it to help treat my pimples right now, instead of the stuff actually meant for treating pimples, which is crappy enough to make them worse. I was looking for something with Benzoyl Peroxide, and all I found that might have it is my Sensodyne Brilliant Whitening toothpaste. Is there benzoyl peroxide in Sensodyne Brilliant Whitening Toothpaste?
No, there is no benzoyl peroxide in Sensodyne toothpaste. Benzoyl peroxide is in Clearasil BP, or Oxy 5, or Persagel, to name a few.

Stopping Benzoyl peroxide and other harsh face chemicals?

I usually don't get many pimples or blemishes on my face, but I decided to try using Benzoyl peroxide to try and clear up my complexion a little bit.

It really only irritated my skin and seemed to make it worse, so do you think stopping all chemicals, and just washing my face once or twice a day with a mild cleanser would be better for me?

It seems to be better not to put all those harsh chemicals on my face.Stopping Benzoyl peroxide and other harsh face chemicals?
Personally, I found that going organic helped with my rosecea, so there is every possibility that getting rid of chemicals will help your acne. Just remember that even with natural products the ';rules'; don't go out the window. You still need to cleanse, tone and moisturize. Moisturizing restores balance to your skin, without it, skin produces more oil, which in turn produces more acne. This is especially true in people who already have acne and are using harsh chemicals. The chemicals in acne medications are extremely drying.Stopping Benzoyl peroxide and other harsh face chemicals?
this was the best cream to get rid of my acne and it worked however it makes your skin dry ALOT

no pain no gain (no acne)

Does Clearasil Ultra have benzoyl peroxide in it?

A loooong time ago, i used benzoyl peroxide acne pads, and they gave me a LOT more acne and a rash.

then, a while ago, i used clearasil ultra a while ago and i dont remember but i think i got a small rash or it made my acne worse or something.

so my question is: does clearasil ultra have benzoyl perokide too? otherwise, why would it give me a rash?Does Clearasil Ultra have benzoyl peroxide in it?
Why don't you just read the label?Does Clearasil Ultra have benzoyl peroxide in it?
    yes

Does Benzoyl Peroxide Wash work for my acne after expiration date?

I found some benzoyl peroxide wash that I've had since April of 07, and on the bottom of the bottle, it says that it expired in December of 08.. and now it's February, so I just want to know if I use the wash, if it will still be effective for my acne since the expiration date wasn't that long ago.Does Benzoyl Peroxide Wash work for my acne after expiration date?
i dont think you should use it.Does Benzoyl Peroxide Wash work for my acne after expiration date?
The chemicals start to break down after the expiration date .It's only around 85 cents a bottle at Walgreens . Get a new one and pour this crap out .
Don't use it... it could give you adverse reactions

Which is better, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide?

Which works better for your acne. I just get a few zits every now and again, but I want a daily regimen to follow.Which is better, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide?
use both - they do different things.

salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant, so it gets rid of dead skin cells that could potentially clog your pores down the line

benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria that's related to acne

you have to start slow with both solutions and let your skin get used to them.Which is better, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide?
    salicylic acid
I'm way past puberty too, but still get those occasional breakouts. I use both, I wash my face with Neutrogena Acne Facial Wash, then follow it with a little Clearasil. Works great!
benzol works way better but it dries out your skin and after a while it stops working but then again it depends on how bad your acne is.
    I prefer salicylic acid.
    salicylic acid for sure
the best on the market is proactive and it uses benzoyl peroxide. Most acne meds use this what the difference is how much ( how concentrated) the benzoyl peroxide is. the proactive is pretty strong but it works. My son uses it and I tried it but can not use it every day because it is too strong for my skin.
Both are good. Salicylic Acid is best for clearing or preventing dark marks caused by acne. It is also safe to use if you're out in the sun (though you should always use sunscreen.)

Benzoyl Peroxide is an excellent acne treatment as well. However, you should NEVER use it when you are exposed to the sun. Not even with a sunscreen. It should be used when you are indoors - best as a night treatment.

Both can be drying, so I would suggest using Salicylic Acid during the day and Benzoyl Peroxide in the evenings.

And repeat after me: ALWAYS USE A SUNSCREEN.

    Good luck!
Salicylic acid. Peroxide is a bleaching agent.
their both good, but salicylic helps to get rid of the pimple more. benzoyl tends to really dry the skin out and can make the pimple worse sometimes. they both dry out your skin a bit though so have a moisturizer on hand
salicylic acid, but only in very small amounts, dont put too concentrated of a solution of it on your face.
my sister went to modeling school and they told her to use hyrogen peroxide it dryes it out but i like to use tooth past not the gel the paste rub it on you probel area before you go to sleep and you can see its almost gone in te mornig and might be abel to pop it maybe
    I prefer salicylic acid.

It's better for sensitive skin because benzoyl perioxide tends to dry out my skin %26amp; turn it red.

Clearisil has benzoyl peroxide %26amp; I think Im allergic to that cleanser since it makes me break out.
I've tried using both, but benzoyl peroxide works better for me. =)
Salicylic acid is really rough on your skin so if it is just for a few zits everyday I would go with the benzoyl peroxide which is also harsh, but not as bad. But personally I just use a face wash for acne everyday and do not use either of the two products, the face wash helps prevent the few zits. And then if one does pop up thats when you should use the salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
don't use either. use a bar of dove or olay soap, and a moisturizer, your skin needs moisture to clean itself. you'll get acne regardless it's part of puberty.

  • What is the difference betweeen benzoyl peroxide and hydrogen peroxide?

Benzoyl peroxide (IPA [藞b蓻nz蓹蕣瑟l p蓹藞r蓲ksa瑟d]) is a chemical in the organic peroxide family. It consists of two benzoyl groups (benzaldehyde with the H of CHO removed) joined by a peroxide group.-----USED TO TREAT ACNE

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a very pale blue liquid which appears clear in a dilute solution, slightly more viscous than water. It has strong oxidizing properties and is therefore a powerful bleaching agent that has found use as a disinfectant, as an oxidizer, and in rocketry (particularly in high concentrations as high-test peroxide (HTP) as a monopropellant), and in bipropellant systems.

What is the difference betweeen benzoyl peroxide and hydrogen peroxide?
Well, I know that there's the clear peroxide, and the red peroxide.
One has two benzene's (C14H10O4) and the other one only has hydrogen (H2O2)

It is mainly used for topical skin treatment as in acne as it acts as a peeling agent and other uses for benzoyl peroxide include dyeing hair, and as an active ingredient in teeth whitening systems. It is also used in the preparation of flour, and can be used as an initiator and catalyst for polyester thermoset resins (as an alternative to the much more hazardous methyl ethyl ketone peroxide).

Oxy Face Wash (liquid, white bottle w/ pink %26amp; red label) or PanOxyl bar soap (5-10% b.p.)

Available at most drugstores. I've used Proactive %26amp; liked these 2 products just as much.Benzoyl peroxide cleanser- Can anyone recommend a good one?
Clearasil Ultra. Vanishing acne crea. benzoyl peroxide acne medication..its good stuff
acnefree. its a competitor or pro activ. also. clean %26amp; clear
i dont know any others with benzoyl peroxode but i do know that neutrogena and clean and clear have salicylic acid in them. That's supposed to help clear acne and unclog pores. But everyone is different and differerent things work for diff people. If you can, try to get a sample if ur gonna try a new product just to see how your skin acts to it and if its worth buying the full bottle.
Oxy5 is good. Benzac AC is good too, because it's stronger.

Can I use Salicylic Acid pads on my face then use Benzoyl Peroxide cream right after it?

i'm pretti sure u can, unless u have an allergic reaction to either one of them b/c tats how proactiv works, it incorporates both of them in da 3 step system! god bless and luv to u! :]Can I use Salicylic Acid pads on my face then use Benzoyl Peroxide cream right after it?
oooh intense!!! i have no idea if it's ok but make sure you moisturise with oil free moisturiser if you do because that will dry out your skin something shocking. Drying out your skin will cause it to overproduce oils and make the problem potentially worseCan I use Salicylic Acid pads on my face then use Benzoyl Peroxide cream right after it?
you can use these together. the salicylic acid is just exfoliating your skin, while the benzoyl peroxide is taking care of any bacteria that might cause acne. be careful with benzoyl peroxide though, it is very drying. even if your skin is oily, you need to moisturize. even a lightweight, oil free moisturizer is great. i love the dramatically different gel at clinique, its super lightweight and oil free. its not a cream either, it's gel based.

Could I be allergic to benzoyl peroxide?

I've been using Neutrogena on the spot acne treatment and at first it seems to clear up the acne, but around the third day or so my face starts to itch really bad. Do you think I'm just sensitive to it or allergic?Could I be allergic to benzoyl peroxide?
Absolutely. This allergy is pretty common. Do you have some hydrocortisone cream? It's anti-itch cream. Take some of that cream and dilute it with water, and apply it to any irritation you have from the benzoyl peroxide.

Obviously you should probably stop using products containing benzoyl peroxide. You may want to try products containing salicylic acid instead.Could I be allergic to benzoyl peroxide?
I think that you are just sensitive to it, because if you are allergic your face would get itchy on the first day you did it. I think you should stop using it, and only use it when you get sudden breakouts, also try putting on some moisturizer for the itching.
It is NOT an allergic reaction. Benzoyl peroxide is very drying on the skin, that is what is causing the skin to itch. My sons' dermatologist recommended Spectro Gel cleanser or cetaphil as it is non drying and can be used daily.

If you must use spot treatment use it every 3 days.
    could be an allergic reaction.

from personal use, i would not recommend any neutrogena products because they did not work for me. try Clearasil daily face wash, its great.

In Canada,do u have to get 10% benzoyl peroxide with a prescription?

Well i have some red marks and some might be scabs because they look dry, from popping some zits on mostly my forehead...if i cover my whole face, including the those marks/scabs what will the cream do for the marks and scabs? make them worse or better? What does benzoyl peroxide cream do to acne marks/scabs??
Benzoyl peroxide is for the pimple itself, not for the marks. It helps get rid of the pimple. For acne marks, you should use Neutrogena Acne Mark Fade %26amp; Peel or for more severe acne marks you should use AcneFree Scar Serum. What does benzoyl peroxide cream do to acne marks/scabs??
umm if ur skin is sensitive and reddish i tht u shld use tea tre oil and apply on the redness part..i tht u can also use dainty lavender mask frm sg website ta 88db to reduce the redness..i tht u can also use skinlite aloe vera mask to redcue the redness...
scabs are scabs..nothing gonna happen to it.. deff not gonna make it worse tho
It'll dry out the skin around the scab. Scars will fade over time. But really you're not supposed to pop pimples because they cause scars.

Is there anyway to get rid of Benzoyl Peroxide bleaching?

OK, so I was washing my face and my acne wash stuff fell on my shirt, it has benzoyl peroxide in it. This is my absolute favorite shirt, my Rondo shirt, it now has a tiny little lighter green spot, is there any way to get rid of it? I can get a new one, but I like this one, it was my first Rondo shirt. Please tell me ways to get rid of it, don't just say 'get a new shirt' unless there really is no way to get rid of it.Is there anyway to get rid of Benzoyl Peroxide bleaching?
There is nothing there to get ';rid'; of. The bleach already took away the color and you can't put it back except by dyeing the whole garment some other color, and even that may not put the new color 100% evenly - the spot might still be slightly visible. Is there anyway to get rid of Benzoyl Peroxide bleaching?
I don't think you can benzoyl peroxide bleaches clothes, hair and stuff.....so it's probably impossible
    no way.

How do i know if i'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid?

i tried using clean and clear continuous control acne cleanser (10% benzoyl peroxide) and biore pore cleansing scrub (2% salicylic acid) yesterday. this morning i woke up with my eyes almost swollen shut. obviously i don't want to try them again one at a time because i can't have this happen again but i need to know which one i had the reaction to so i can treat my acne! How do i know if i'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid?
If you've never used either product before your skin may not be used to the intensity of the cleansers. It could ALSO be that you're mixing two brands. My only suggestion would still be to use them one at a time until you can figure it out... or as directed on bottle. How do i know if i'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid?
Salicylic acid is a derivative from asprin. If you are not allergic to asprin, then it might be the benzoyl peroxide.

Ive been trying benzoyl peroxide (10%) for acne and it isnt working that great. is there anything else out there?.Are there any other over the counter medicines for treating acne than benzoyl peroxide?
The 4 main ingredients that are used for acne are: benzoyl peroxide (up to 20%); 2. salicylic acid 3. retinoids 4. sulfur. Then a doc can prescribe antibiotics and other modalities. Experiment with the sulfurs and the salicylates. You can also combine them with each other. STop if you experience irritation, peeling, excessive dryness etc..Are there any other over the counter medicines for treating acne than benzoyl peroxide?
Most acne products only treat the symptoms and not the source. Over the counter products such as gel and cream only make your skin dry %26amp; sensitive instead of treating acne at the source. Prolonged use can even lead to premature aging and other health issues.

The main causes of acne is toxins build up in the body and clogged pores caused by excessive oil and deadskin cells. These conditions provide a fertile ground for acne bacteria to spread and thrive.

To effectively fight acne and prevent acne from coming back, you have to attack acne from inside the body as well as outside on the skin. So, look for an acne product that fights acne internally as well as externally. They should also contains natural ingredients since they're more safer to use and has less side effects.

There are also things you can do at home to get rid of acne. Take actions to detoxify your body and take care of your skin and soon, you will permanently end your acne and have clear, radiant, beautiful skin!

For the next couple of weeks, stick to the regimen below:

-Drink a glass of warm water with lemon and honey in the morning and evening

-Drink lots of water throughout the day to flush out the toxins

    -Eat oatmeal for breakfast

-Eat 2 cups of yogurt a day - yogurt boost ur immune system and contain microbiotic organisms that help your digestive system and control the acid/yeast

    -Exercise regularly

-Eat lots of green veggies (organic if possible)

-Stay away from coffee, sugar, carbohydrates, fatty and fried food

-Wash your face in morning and evening with gentle cleanser, use natural toner, and follow up with oil-free moisturizer

If you have mild acne, following the above guideline should help you to control acne outbreak. However, if you have moderate to sever acne, it's best to use an acne treatment system that treat acne from the inside as well as the outside. Check out http://www.amazingacnecure.com/products_鈥?/a> review of the best acne treatment system that can permenantly cure your acne.

  • Natural skin care product to replace benzoyl peroxide?

I have been use natural products instead of proactiv and i really like them, but i like proactiv's benzoyl peroxide cream. Do yo know of any natural products to replace that?Natural skin care product to replace benzoyl peroxide?
No natural skin care product would have anything like Benzoyl Peroxide in it....it is a nasty chemical irritant used to bleach hair or whiten teeth - the last thing you should do is put it on your skin.

If you don't get a bad reaction to it, it will whiten your skin and dry it out - check your pillows, if they weren't white to start with, they probably are now!

Any product you move to will probably take your skin a couple of weeks to adjust to, so if you get a breakout, it probably isn't the new product or lack of the old...just part of the process.

Natural products are great for anyone with acne - I'd suggest starting off with one formulated for sensitive skin, then as your skin improves, move to one that suits your skin type - e.g. one for T-Zone/ Combination skin.

Consider using a cream cleanser instead of a facial wash and don't overwash your skin with harsh detergents or soap.

I always use Pai...and frequently recommend it...so look at their Chamomile %26amp; Rosehip Sensitive Cream to start:

    http://www.paiskincare.com/product_details_2.htm

And then move onto a different one once your skin has settled, such as the Geranium %26amp; Thistle Combination Skin moisturizer:

http://www.paiskincare.com/product_details_3.htmNatural skin care product to replace benzoyl peroxide?
Stick with using creams - they are better than any natural remedies, honestly. Apart from drinking lots of water, there's not much natural that is going to help your spots.

Stick with ProActive, or if you want something cheaper, try Quinoderm which contains benzoyl peroxide too and works really well for me.

Whenever I use either b/p or salicylic acid my skin gets really irritated, and it feels almost like a sunburn and it gets dry and stays with me for days and peels off at the end (I know, it's kind of gross, but I'm not exaggerating at all).

I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful.

You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy.

Well good luck and best wishes.
Although there is no cure, acne treatments are available to help control breakout activity. Acne treatments are divided into three categories: topical, systemic, and procedural. The course of treatment is determined by the type and severity of acne.

Knowing your grade of acne will help you choose the most effective treatment plan. Grade I and Grade II (mild to moderate acne) can often be treated with over-the-counter products. A dermatologist must treat Grade III and Grade IV (moderately severe to severe, or cystic acne).

i just got proactive but when i used it, i found out im allergic, should i continue? will i eventually not be allergic if i keep using it?Im allergic to benzoyl peroxide but i really want to continue proactive, what should i do?
I know people can be sensitive to the product at first. I was. Sometimes you have to slowly introduce it to your skin. Try it once every second day and slowly work up to twice a day. That's what I did. But if you are truly allergic there are other products on the market that

do not contain benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic acid is helpful. I would discuss it with your Doctor before trying anything though.Im allergic to benzoyl peroxide but i really want to continue proactive, what should i do?
i would suggest changing your diet.. go to mercola.com and search acne. he tells you about producing too much testosterone which causes you to produce more sebum. you may need to take vitamins to help control sugar levels from the things you eat. For a topical solution you may try tea tree oil.
stop using it you could get sick and ask your doctor if theres anything else that you can use.cuz im allergic to clearisil and my doctor told me to get differen or clean and clear try one of those
you should know, youre a registered nurse!!!!!!!!!!! lol
You said that you have allergy to benzoyl peroxide. You cant use the product. It's better to ask your doctor for an alternative.

How does Benzoyl Peroxide work in treating acne?

Benzoyl peroxide works by destroying P. acnes, the bacteria that causes the condition acne. It acts as an antiseptic and oxidizing agent, reducing the number of comedones, or blocked pores. It may be 2鈥? weeks before you begin to see improvement.

NOTE: While benzoyl peroxide kills existing P. acnes, it does not increase your body鈥檚 natural resistance to bacteria. So even when your breakouts begin to disappear, you should keep treating acne-prone areas. Why? This course of acne treatment kills bacteria, but it does not affect sebum production or the rate at which you shed your dead skin cells. If you stop using it, the bacteria 鈥?and your acne 鈥?will return. How does Benzoyl Peroxide work in treating acne?

Is it possible to be allergic to benzoyl peroxide?

i have acne that i want to get rid off. i have tried almost every acne fighting product there is. even proactiv. nothing works. also i think i may be allergic to products that have benzoyl peroxide because it causes the skin on my face to peel. what can i do/use to get rid of acne? plz help! thank you.Is it possible to be allergic to benzoyl peroxide?
You are probalby not allergic to it. Your skin is probably just sensative. A dermatologist can help you find products that work for your skin type. I use Wet and Wild sensative skin facial soap and Benzaclyn (the pump kind). Is it possible to be allergic to benzoyl peroxide?
No, you are not allergic to benzoyl peroxide. The problem with BP (and all the other chemicals used in acne products) is that it damages the skin. BP has similar effect on the skin as unprotected sun exposure. It creates free radicals that damage the skin and causes redness and peeling.

The only way to protect against damage is to have enough antioxidants. The best way is to get them from food (read: plenty of fruits and vegetables). Some skin care products also have antioxidants, but I'm not sure how effective they are.

Acne needs to be treated from the inside-out. Using topical treatments is a temporary solution at best. At worst it damages the skin and makes acne much worse.
I used Proactiv a long time ago and got mixed result. My acne went away alright. But my skin would be really red in the morning from the repairing lotion. I tried using just the cleanser and the toner. The redness, however, didn't totally disappear. So I think you can definitely be allergic to benzoyl peroxide. I stopped using Proactiv and started to eat more veggies and fruits. I still get acne every now and then, but I notice that they only show up when I go to sleep really late. But if your acne is really bad, you probably should see a dermatologist.
All OTC acne medications have benzoyl peroxide, they are not considered medication but cosmetics. That's why there is hardly any difference between them, except price. They can cause all sorts of skin irritations. You can try using a !% hydrocotisone cream to alleviate the redness from the acne cream. Many doctors use this combination . But seeing your MD or Dermatologist would be better. There is also info at webmd. Take care. SW RNP
u should go to a dermatoglogist. there's bound be an acne fighting product without benzoyl peroxide. dont worry, i have acne problems also and i finally settled with proactiv. thank god it works. im pretty sure its a teenage thing for most cases. u'll find something.

    Edit:

i almost forgot ur orignal question, yes, its possible to be allergice to benzoyl peroxide
From personal experience, I do believe it's possible to be allergic to benzoyl peroxide. When I use it, it makes my skin turn red and swell, and then peel. (I tried lower concentrations: 10%, 5%, 2%, 1%... it all is the same.) It's too bad that I'm allergic, because for a time period I was not, and it helped clear the acne really well.

Use salcylic acid-based acne treatment like Clearasil adult acne cream, and many cleaners have that ingredient in there as well.

Is oral erythromycin and benzoyl peroxide good for acne?

Please help me, have been using it for 2 weeks now and cannot really see a difference!? how long will it take? and is it good? will it go away fully 100%

Sorry about all the questions ;PIs oral erythromycin and benzoyl peroxide good for acne?
    Hi Sophie,

Here is some information on Aloe Vera and Tea Tree, a natural remedy, which may be of some interest to you.

The watery gel from Aloe Vera plant is a highly effective natural cure against Acne. The enzyme-rich gel has very soothing anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It can also be taken internally and helps clean up and detox the digestive tract. This in turn can help clear up the skin.

Gel or juice of Aloe Vera is highly useful in fading of acne scars. You can grow Aloe Vera plant in your home and apply freshly taken pure Aloe Vera gel to your scar. Otherwise many branded cosmetic companies manufactures pure Aloe Vera gel, so you can choose the best cosmetic companies to get Aloe Vera gel.

Vitamin A is also a natural and effective Acne cure. Vitamin A promotes healthy skin.

Vitamin E also helps in countering Acne. It is a natural antioxidant and beneficial for the skin.

Oil is obtained from the Melaleuca alternifoliais tree from Australia. It is very effective against Acne as it contains bacteria-fighting substances called Terpenes. Acne is often caused by bacteria and the Terpenes either outright kill them or weaken them enough to be destroyed by protective antibodies. There are very little side effects from using Tea Tree Oil.

For more information check out the website http://www.trustwilliam.com/en-GB/Ingred鈥?/a> . You'll see the ingredients are 99.9% Pure Aloe Vera Gel with 'Vitamins A,C %26amp; E' and with 'Tea Tree'.

Hope this helps keep your acne at bay!!Is oral erythromycin and benzoyl peroxide good for acne?
Sometimes it makes little or no difference. Try sunlight or a controlled exposure to a UV light source (ask your doctor). Nothing is 100% effective though. Laser treatment is one of the best treatments at the moment
usually takes about 3 weeks or more, but it depends the results are different on different people so if the acne doesnt go away after about 5 weeks maybe try something else.

Is benzoyl peroxide and benzyl alcohol the same thing?

I either have a cold sore or a pimple right on my lip line. I've only had a few cold sores in my life and don't remember what it was like. Unfortunately, I do get pimples often. The cold sore medicine has benzyl alcohol in it and acne medicine has benzoyl peroxide, so I wonder if they will give same outcome.

Thanks! Is benzoyl peroxide and benzyl alcohol the same thing?
Benzoyl peroxide is an oxidizing agent that kills the bacteria common in acne eruptions.

Cold sores are viral in nature and aren't effectively treated by oxidation. Benzyl alcohol acts a numbing agent, which is about all the relief available from OTC medications.

So benzoyl peroxide won't help your cold sore, and benzyl alcohol won't do much for your acne.

As you may know the Herpes I virus is blamed for cold sores. It's one of those bugs you can never get rid of, and it causes repeated eruptions throughout life. For me, fortunately, eruptions became less and less frequent, and I haven't had one for many years.

None of that is helpful, however, when you have this ugly thing right in the middle of your face. To address, that, I used to lance and drain those horrid little pus-filled sores, which certainly seemed to hasten healing dramatically.

Now with the internet, I see that the procedure is described on many pages. If you want to take that route, check out the links or search for more examples.

Is it a good idea to use 2.5% benzoyl peroxide during winter?

Wash your face and then wait a half hour before putting on the stuff.. Natural oils are good (as in the ones that are naturally in your skin that get washed away when you wash), they have a chance to come back.

You can just lessen the amount that you use or do it a little less frequently

Do NOT use moisturizer. if you have acne then that may be the culprit.

  • For cream based benzoyl peroxide cream, is it better to apply and wait till it dries, or to rub until it blend

i read on acne.org. that it is better to rub the cream and gliding it, mashing it all over, until all the cream is gone or some of it left, this means the cream is absorbed, and it is more effective...on other hand, if you just put a bunch of benzoyl cream on your face and let it dry off itself, it wouldn't be absorbed much and is less effective...is this true ?For cream based benzoyl peroxide cream, is it better to apply and wait till it dries, or to rub until it blend
I really don't think it matters too much. I always put enough where I can rub it in but still leave some on the surface that is not dry. Think about it this way. When the air drys it, it is really evaporation which means any oil it is in contact with is being evaporated also. So either way it helps. For cream based benzoyl peroxide cream, is it better to apply and wait till it dries, or to rub until it blend
Rub it in - if you let it dry on the surface, you lose the effectiveness of absorption.

Stop using it! You obviously have sensetive skin, let the burn mark heal or see a doctor if it dont until then stay away from the benzynol peroxide its a harsh chemical and it obviously dont agree with you, if you do plan to continue using it use less.

Can using Benzoyl Peroxide damage my skin?

I have heard that it can leave lasting damage to your skin. Does anyone know if this is true? The doctor prescribed me Benzoyl Peroxide 5%, with Minocycline for my acne. I find the Benzoyl Peroxide very drying, i havent noticed any bad effects yet, but I heard it could be much worse when you are older. Can using Benzoyl Peroxide damage my skin?
No, but it will dry you out, yes. If you have naturally oily skin you should be alright. Otherwise I would get a facial mosturizer (I have one from Neutrogena that's oil and scent free. You might want that, or they probably make some for guys.)Can using Benzoyl Peroxide damage my skin?
no, it might dry it up, which is a good thing to get rid of acne, but it won't damage it [=

    hope I helped.

it is good but of you leave it on for an excessive amount of time, it'll make your skin dry up and peel or it could possibly burn your skin leaving scars
I use BP 5% and I have burned my skin before when I put on too much, too frequently. Don't glob it on, use just a thin layer up to 2 times a day at the most.
well i sure hope not or i will be suing proactiv when i see damaging results

Preparations that combine an antibiotic with other acne medication are available (eg Benzamycin which combines an antibiotic with benzoyl peroxide)7

some of the prescription creams are very gentle. See your dermatologist
