What is the difference betweeen benzoyl peroxide and hydrogen peroxide?

Benzoyl peroxide (IPA [藞b蓻nz蓹蕣瑟l p蓹藞r蓲ksa瑟d]) is a chemical in the organic peroxide family. It consists of two benzoyl groups (benzaldehyde with the H of CHO removed) joined by a peroxide group.-----USED TO TREAT ACNE





Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a very pale blue liquid which appears clear in a dilute solution, slightly more viscous than water. It has strong oxidizing properties and is therefore a powerful bleaching agent that has found use as a disinfectant, as an oxidizer, and in rocketry (particularly in high concentrations as high-test peroxide (HTP) as a monopropellant), and in bipropellant systems.

Well, I know that there's the clear peroxide, and the red peroxide.
One has two benzene's (C14H10O4) and the other one only has hydrogen (H2O2)
Benzoyl peroxide (IPA [藞b蓻nz蓹蕣瑟l p蓹藞r蓲ksa瑟d]) is a chemical in the organic peroxide family. It consists of two benzoyl groups (benzaldehyde with the H of CHO removed) joined by a peroxide group.


It is mainly used for topical skin treatment as in acne as it acts as a peeling agent and other uses for benzoyl peroxide include dyeing hair, and as an active ingredient in teeth whitening systems. It is also used in the preparation of flour, and can be used as an initiator and catalyst for polyester thermoset resins (as an alternative to the much more hazardous methyl ethyl ketone peroxide).
